Britney Spears
By Chris Shiflett

Britney Spears is an US singer, born December 2, 1981 in Kentwood Louisiana.

At the age of 8, following an audition to present the Mickey Mouse Club where Britney Spears was refused because too young, one of the producer of the show notices her and recommends Britney Spears to an agent in New York. Britney Spears then spends her following summers in New York to follow dancing and comedy courses. Very good idea as in 1991, Britney Spears manages to get a role in a Broadway show. The same year, Britney Spears little sister Jamie Lynn Spears comes to world. At the age of 11, Britney Spears presents the Mickey Mouse Club with Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake. Then, Britney Spears records a sample that she sends to a large number of music record companies. Britney Spears takes audition for Jive Records which immediately signs her.

On January 12 1999, the first Britney Spears album Baby One More Time, (Baby One More Time, You Drive Me Crazy, Sometimes, Soda Pop, Born To Make You Happy, From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart, I Will Be There, I Will Still Love You, Thinkin' About You, E-Mail My Heart, The Beat Goes On) is released.

The Britney Spears album contains two titles with pop sounds and the targeted audience is somewhat young. The Britney Spears album sells at 23 millions worldwide. Britney Spears then releases her new song "Sometimes", with average success, then "Crazy" which ranks well in charts of many countries before giving place to "Born To Make Your Happy" which had a strong impact.

In 2000, Britney Spears releases her second cd album, Oops... I Dit It Again (I Can't Get No Satisfaction, Can't Make You Love Me, Dear Diary, Don't Go Knockin' On My Door, Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know, Lucky, One Kiss From You, Oops!...I Did It Again, Stronger, What U See Is What U Get, When Your Eyes Say It, Where Are You Now). The hit becomes one of the most popular song of the 90s. 19 millions of Britney Spears albums are sold. The second song "Lucky" encounters a relatively important success. We need to wait the third single "Stronger" to see a new success for Britney Spears. The last album, "Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know", is however her fist commercial failure.

Well decided not to stay with a defeat, Britney Spears takes her time to prepare a third cd album with a first single "I'm Slave For You" with innovating and audacious sounds, produced by Neptunes. The Britney Spears single definitively breaks the virgin image of the pop star. The Britney Spears album sells pretty well (more than 12 millions albums sold), but not as much as her first two ones.

It is at the same period that Britney Spears makes her first steps in cinema in a movie specifically created for her, "Crossroads". Despite the movie getting deceiving results, the Britney Spears movie still is a commercial success as the movie collected over $60 million worldwide, for a budget four times less important.

Little by little, Britney Spears image degrades. We especially discover Britney Spears smokes, like parties, drinks and has tried drugs in the past. Britney Spears also surprised people with her express wedding at Las Vegas which lasted not even the 55 hours.

In November 2003, Britney Spears releases a new cd album, In The Zone ((I Got That) Boom Boom (featuring Ying Yang Twins), Brave New Girl, Breathe On Me, Early Mornin', Everytime, Me Against the Music (featuring Madonna), Outrageous, Shadow, Showdown, The Hook Up, Touch of My Hand, Toxic). Britney Spears music is now more sensual but also more personal (the singer has written or co-written several songs). The first Britney Spears single, “Me Against The Music” is with the collaboration of her idol of ever, Madonna. Yet, the presence of Madonna doesn’t Britney Spears to meet the expected success in the US. Nevertheless, the Britney Spears song still manages to top in several countries across the globe. It is with her international hit "Toxic" that Britney Spears album sales skyrocketed. Then Britney Spears releases her single "Everytime", first song written and composed by the singer, which also will be an international success.

Britney Spears then starts a world tour, the Onyx Hotel Tour, a concert which is more dedicated to an adult audience. Unfortunately, her wounded knee (while recording clip "Outrageous") forces Britney Spears to cancel the end of the tour. After a shorten promotion due to her being hospitalized, the Britney Spears album still managed to sells at more than 7 millions.

Britney Spears doesn't have the mood for work, and according to her, "What's better than releasing a Best Of?": then comes Britney Spears Greatest Hits: My Prerogative (My Prerogative, Toxic, I'm a Slave 4 U, Oops! ... I Did It Again, Me Against the Music, Stronger, Everytime, Baby One More Time, You Drive Me Crazy, Boys, Sometimes, Overprotected, Lucky, Outrageous, I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman, I've Just Begun Having My Fun, Do Somethin'). Two new Britney Spears songs appear on this Best Of; My Prerogative and Do Something'. My prerogative has had a relatively important success worldwide; the single is a version of Bobby Brown. The second single is Do Somethin' which wasn’t released in the US but still manages to rank position 100 thanks to downloads. The Britney Spears cd sells at 5 millions, it is the best of the most sold in year 2004.

In late 2004, Britney Spears launches her first perfume, Curious (produced by Elizabeth Arden), which immediately has a phenomenal success. Later, Britney Spears married Kevin Federline, dancer and boyfriend of a few months that left wife and his two children. Britney Spears releases a new perfume Fantasy still with Elizabeth Arden which again is a phenomenal success.

In 2005, Britney Spears comes back on the screens with her TV reality show: Britney and Kevin: Chaotic, aired on cable channel UPN. The TV reality show is a complete commercial disaster. Britney Spears then takes the opportunity of the last episode to diffuse her new clip; Someday (I Will Understand) where Britney Spears shares her feelings about her upcoming maternity.

Wanting to prove to the world that a woman body carrying a baby is still so beautiful, Britney Spears accepts to be taken in nude pictures in the August 2006 edition of magazine Harper's Bazaar, imitating Demi Moore who in 1991 made scandal on magazine Vanity Fair.

On September 14 of the same year, Britney Spears gives life to a little Sean Preston Spears-Federline in a clinic of Santa Monica, California. Britney Spears then appears in some journals, her being suspected of not looking well after her child.

One month after the birth of her son, Britney Spears releases a new album of remixes named B In the Mix: The Remixes (Toxic - Peter Rauhofer Reconstruction Mix, Me Against The Music Featuring Madonna - Justice Remix, Touch Of My Hand - Bill Hamel Remix, Breathe On Me - Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duke Mix, I’m A Slave 4 U - Dave Audé Slave Driver Mix, And Then We Kiss - Junkie Xl Remix, Everytime - Valentin Remix, Early Mornin’ - Jason Nevins Remix, Someday (I Will Understand) - Hi-Bias Signature Radio Remix, Baby One More Time - Davidson Ospina 2005 Remix, Don’t Let Me Be The Last To Know - Hex Hector Club Mix).

In 2006, Britney Spears releases a third perfume Curious-In-Control in limited edition in the US. Again it is another success for Britney Spears. A party is then organized with some children to celebrate the three successes of her perfumes which would for sure be followed by two others as the star Britney Spears has signed for five perfumes with Arden.

Britney Spears then makes an appearance in the serial Will & Grace in March 2006 and announces on May 9 2006 her second pregnancy in David Letterman's talk show. On September 12 2006 at 2H AM, Britney Spears gives birth to her second child, a boy named Sutton Pierce. Britney Spears would have chosen Sutton Pierce to have the same initials as Sean Preston (SPF). Two days later, on 14, Britney Spears celebrates the first anniversary of Sean.

The official Britney Spears website is currently in renovation. Apparently, Britney Spears comeback promises to rock if we believe what the producers of her future album said. Singer Britney Spears just gave birth to her second child that rumors fuse everywhere about her big coming back in the music scene. Even if no specific date was given, the next Britney Spears album is expected for early 2007. Jonathan Rotem (producer of Britney Spears) has admitted the album would contain one or two rap songs, some slows and club songs. Jive would have sent a song to a radio. This song may be "Everybody" from Britney Spears next album but it is only a rumor.

Concerning the comeback of Britney Spears, in 2005 the title of the album, according to media, would have been “The Original Doll" but here we are in 2006 and Britney Spears may rather be more keen on something like "The Glorious Return Of The Southern Bell" but nothing has been decided yet.

Living an Honest and Fruitful Life is Not an Option (from a Seminar I Gave)

By [https://EzineArticles.com/expert/Richard_Posner/34106]Richard Posner Let's discover your true self and the pot of gold that is yours to claim. Truth is at the heart of an honest and happy life. Be true to others, to yourself and to the values that guide you. Start each day in truth and finish in truth. You'll sleep soundly and each delicious next morning you'll feel glad to be alive. It's a splendid manner of living and you'll never have to lower your eyes again. I hope that each of you will be touched today by the spirit of challenge. I hope that each of you will grasp the powerful picture I am passionately painting for you with my words and visions; words which touch you and jumpstart your life up the road to success. I hope that each of you will today walk away from this groundbreaking seminar with a strong, long-lasting belief that you CAN control your destiny through proper planning and execution of your special plan. I hope that each of you will learn to trust yourself and act on that trust. I hope that each of you will learn to lighten up and loosen up. I hope that each of you will walk miles taller. Firmly committed to excellence, may you never again have to settle for second best. And finally, I hope that each of you today will leave here full of gratitude just for being alive. The famous utopian, Ralph Waldo Emerson, wrote: "You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late." Friends, we must leave no stone unturned in our pursuit of happiness and fulfillment. Our task is huge, but well worth the effort. Whether we are 12 or 800, retired or tired, dirty or clean, angry or dreamy, wounded or whole...character is always a welcomed guest and is treated with all due respect. Let's take our hats off to character. So what is character? What does he or she look like who has character? What difference does character make in the scheme of things? I can't fully put my finger on what character is. I do know that it holds power, love, beauty, warmth, strength, forgiveness, steadiness, excellence, luxury, compassion, thoughtfulness, richness, blissful laughter and sincere teardrops. I do know that character doesn't ignore unhappiness, dissatisfaction, anger, frustration, stubbornness, depression and hopelessness. I do know that it is crystal-pure blessing from wherever Heaven may be. It pays everyone in kindness, respectfulness and mindfulness. Indeed, it is the most dignified manner of living a good, respectful, respectable life. Character is the rope that pulls us up from deep disappointment and failure to the shores of success. It is the smiling, confident, calm face in the eye of a storm. Character stands for what we stand for and what we stand for should stand for something. When life is conducted properly, our steadiness and resolve make us unstoppable. We will set goals. We will act. We will adjust. We will not back down or turn back. We will feel able to climb steep, spiritual mountains and rebound from broken promises. To know how to conduct your life through empowering thought and mindful action will make you absolutely unstoppable. We must attempt the uncomfortable at times in order to gain mastery and self-confidence. Tony Robbins, personal coach/mentor for many famous people including the late Princess Diana, gives a special, annual seminar using a very frightening strategy. He teaches his pupils the art of fire-walking barefooted across red-hot coals. It takes a full weekend to mind train and convince his audience that they can do such a dangerous task effortlessly and with no injury. Amazingly, he has never had an injury at his seminars requiring hospitalization. Why would the participants take the risk of getting seriously burned in a coal pit? Why is an excellent question. Tony Robbins believes and fully lives a life of truth. He follows through. He wants his seminar participants to experience the victory over unbelievable circumstances. If you master coal walking, then dealing with sassy teenage daughters and sons seems that much easier. Dealing with a demanding or unfair boss becomes a trivial manner. Nobody can or will do the hard work for us. There is a price to be paid for success and fulfillment. That price is --- to never give up. Never ever give up on your dreams and plans. Only losers do. I read in a newspaper clip a few month's ago of a very old yet active woman, Lana by name, one hundred and three years young, and her reaction to the question 'What makes you stay young?' Her response? "We don't stop playing because we grow older, we grow older because we stop playing." Folks, our lives are not a dress rehearsal. Our lives are what we make them. The seeds we plant now will bloom into flowers over time. Patience is a willingness to stick with a plan whether or not the sun shines, the wife loves you, the boss respects you, the money is flowing in or the economy is rising up. Patience brings results... There was a famous, cynical comedian in the 1930s named W.C. Fields. He loved to drink, he loved to party and he loved to make people laugh. He was extremely funny. One day he was walking through a flower shop and a tag on one of the plants caught his eye. The plant was called a Century Plant. The somewhat dishonest florist told Mr. Fields that this plant only flowered once per century and that within 24 hours it would bloom. In a drunken ecstasy, Fields bought the over-priced plant, brought it home and invited many of his Hollywood pals over for the 24-hour wait for this Century Plant to flower. And wait they did. Two days of hard, heavy drinking passed and still the flower failed to bloom. Fields, fed up with waiting, went to his locked drawer, yanked the key off the wall hook and inserted it into the keyhole. Hearing the unlocking click, he yanked the drawer out and grabbed his pistol. He went into the livingroom where the Century Plant lay at rest and said to the plant: "For the last time, bloom! Bloom!!! Do you hear me, you fool?" Mysteriously, the plant remained silent and the flower failed to appear. Bang! He shot the plant and soil into a thousand directions and walked back into the kitchen for another shot of whiskey. Mr. Fields is not so different than most people who want quick results or want something for nothing. He got impatient and never gave his flower a chance to bloom. Have you ever wondered what could have happened for the better, if you had been a bit more patient with someone, with some project, or with some study you gave up on? Most of us shoot the plant before it has a chance to flower. God only knows how many times I have given up too soon. And turning back too soon results in low levels of self-confidence. And when you lose your self-confidence, opportunity becomes like a disease. You close your mind step-by-step to the magnificent, golden fields of opportunity. You hear people say things like "I know about that" or "I did that and it doesn't work" or "Japanese are all alike" or "My friend tried that and lost money." Sound familiar? Regret is a bitter pill to swallow. Following through brings rewards and momentum. I speak from experience. Nine and a half months ago I weighed in at 114 kilograms. My blood pressure was skyrocketing, my legs were swollen because of poor circulation. I was on a regiment of pills to control all the diseases that were starting to effect me. Clothes didn't fit well. I looked like a poor cousin of Konishiki, the gargantuan sumoist. My wife, a nurse, was constantly complaining to me that being so fat was dangerous and selfish to the family. She was right, but I ate more under that pressure. If you had seen me at that time you would not have believed that this over-fifty-year-old man, me, could have totally turned his troubled life and body around. I'm back from the valley of the living dead to inspire each of you to do your best, always. I did my best for the last nine months of weight loss and you can too with whatever areas of your life requiring improvement, once you understand the mindset for success. Last Friday I weighed in at 74 kilograms. My blood pressure is almost perfect. My leg swelling is virtually gone. The bounce is back in my walk. I can fit into Japanese-sized clothing without difficulty. The pillbox of disease is history. Whether your twenty or eighty, fat or thin, smart or not so smart, handsome, pretty or not, rich or poor, confident or lacking confidence...there are better tomorrows and they should start today. Not one precious soul in this world hasn't at least secretly wished he or she could live a first-class, healthy life. A famous speaker once said, "If a man tells you he doesn't care about his self-improvement and success, there's no telling what else he might lie to you about." I'm certain many of us don't change because we are caught in what is often referred to as the "comfort zone." The comfort zone is that cubbyhole place where we can consistently justify our underachievement and abandon our hopes and dreams while being cheered on by our failing and failed comrades. They are going nowhere and they are glad that you are too. When we hang around with other people who are living compromised, unfulfilled lives it is easy to catch the blues. Misery does enjoy the company of other giver-uppers. Don't look in that dark storm, however, for support in your quest for betterment and excellence. Great minds do, however, arise from the ashes of despair and hopelessness. Those of Excellence do not live in mediocre circles, and neither should you. The comfort zone club only loves you when you stop trying as hard as you can. That's the wrong club to hang out at. If you want to soar, then hang out with the hawks and eagles. Attend meetings and seminars with people serious about learning and improving upon their life and business skills. Read books by people who have accomplished much by doing and sharing much. Look up, look down, look sideways and look within. Pause and reflect on your blessings. Smile until it doesn't hurt. Listen until your tongue bleeds. Take nothing for granted. Give others credit, even when it is not due. Put high expectations on everyone but never be disappointed if others can't or don't live up to your standards. Be wrong often, even when you know you are right. Make a mountain of errors in your pursuit of excellence. Focus on the person/people you are with, as if it may be the last time you meet. And it may just be. Be the first to reach out with a hand of friendship or an encouraging pat on the back. One of my favorite motivational speakers and a multi-millionaire sales trainer as well is named Zig Zeigler. He has often said at his seminars: "Are you a wandering generality or a meaningful specific?" A wandering generality --- do you spend your life avoiding risk and settling for second best? A meaningful specific --- do you have any short-, medium- and long-term plans for your life? Are you orchestrating your life or is your boss or spouse doing the orchestrating? What are we living for? Are we living for our parents', spouse's or children's dreams and hopes? Or are we selfishly - some people may want you to believe - looking out only for our own self-interests? Frankly, there isn't a single soul in the world who isn't living for the appreciation and respect of others. We all want love and acceptance. Our self-interest gives us the confidence and reserve energy required for moving forward and navigating the uncharted waters of our lives. Our value on this planet is in direct proportion to the effort each of us puts out, even though we can rest. Even though no one may be watching. Even though the result may be in doubt. Even though the money may not be in the bank. Even though a loved one may be suffering from a disease or other misfortune. Even though the sun hasn't shone for a week. Even though you're getting by on three hours' rest and holding down two jobs. Even though we are told to fear terrorists and terrorism. Even though the economy is in the doldrums. Even though your boss doesn't like you. Even though your spouse doesn't pay attention to you. Even though no one cares about you. We are all given the same twenty-four hours each day. No more and no less. How we fill that time defines us. Thomas Edison, the prolific inventor of thousands of clever gadgets, once was asked about his invention of the lightbulb. The questioner wondered how he could have had the perseverance to continue with his experiments after thousands' of failures. He quickly snapped back: "Results! Why, man, I have gotten a lot of results. I know several thousand things that won't work." Stop complaining and moaning. Things don't work. People don't work. Children don't listen. Nobody loves you (or so you think). The world is going to hell. The government is the cause of my problems. I don't have enough money, enough time, enough brains, enough good looks. I'm too shy. He pushes me around. There's no hope. Rich people are lucky. It's my destiny to fail. Everything I touch goes bad. And my parents are the reason I'm a nobody. On and on, the excuses flow, and we never have to get off our behinds and get to work on being the best we can. With a suicidal rapidity we march forward toward a painful mental and physical death or living hell --- "Oh well" or a "I never got any breaks" or "What's the use." As you get older you start in with your list of "used to's." We alllllll do it or have done it. "I used to be a good tennis player." "I used to bake bread." "I used to be in great shape." "I used to have four girlfriends." "I used to like people." "I used to have ambition." "I used to have a lot of money." I used to be a good tenor." "I used to write short stories." "I used to read a lot." Or here's a clever one: "I used to have a sense of humor." And the grand prizewinner is: "I used to have time." Hey, folks, time is not about to change. But your perception of time must change. You must be focused. Although our lives are finite, the opportunities within our lifetime are infinite and timeless. A woman climbed Mt. Everest in her late seventies recently. A man ran and completed a marathon at age 100. An ex-President skydived at age 88. Actor Paul Newman drove in the 24-Hour Daytona Race when he was 75. Tired? Consider this: John Wesley, a famous Christian minister of the 19th Century, preached over 40,000 sermons and traveled 225,000 miles (his horse had never heard of kilometers). Did you realize these figures belong only to the latter part of his life, from age 36 to 88? And if you need more inspiration, let me read to you about a very special granny. Anna Mary Robertson (Grandma Moses) was born on September 7, 1860 in Greenwich New York. She spent most of her life as a farmer's wife and raising her five children. She didn't become serious about painting until she was in her mid seventies. Up until that time, she enjoyed embroidery work with colorful scenes on canvas but when her hands became stiff with arthritis, she switched to painting. Her first picture was painted on a piece of canvas with house paint. In 1938 when she was almost eighty, Louis J. Caldor, an art collector noticed her work in a drugstore window and bought her first paintings. In 1939, Otto Kallir, art dealer first exhibited her scenes of rural life at his Gallerie Saint-Etienne in New York City. Her one-woman show brought national recognition. Gimbel's Department Store invited Grandma to New York to see a display of her painting at a Thanksgiving festival. Here she met many people who were fascinated by her paintings and by 1941 she received New York state prize for one of her paintings, "The Old Oaken Bucket." In 1949, President Harry S. Truman presented her with the Women's National Press Club Award for outstanding accomplishment in art. In 1955, the news reporter Edward R. Murrow invited her on his TV show, See It Now. People watched the TV screen as Grandma painted a picture from her house. She sat at an old table and painted on masonite, a thin hard board. "I like to paint old-timey things," she said. Her work is called primitive art, a simple and clear style and her theme was American rural life. Many primitive artists have not had formal training yet seem to paint in a natural way. Grandma drew from her memory and captured activities such as capturing the Thanksgiving turkey, Halloween night on the farm and having a family reunion picnic. At age 100, she illustrated an edition of "The Night Before Christmas" by Clement Moore and the book was published after her death. Grandma Moses died on December 13, 1961. She lived to be 101 and in the last year of her life painted twenty-five pictures! It's all in your head. Are you a wandering generality or meaningful specific? You are what you think you are. You always meet your expectations, and if your expectations are low then your results will be low. Are you a good person? Are you kind? Are you soft? Are you thoughtful? Are you exhausted? Are you serious? Are you rich? Are you boring? Are you bored? Are you a housemom? Are you a dissatisfied worker? Are you an underachiever? An overachiever? A nonachiever? Are you an engineer talking about stress in buildings? Are you just an office lady filing away your hours? Are you a Kacho (boss) who secretly wishes to be in the sales department or in a laboratory or to have your own business? Are you Mr. Macho, pumping iron after hours? Are you gay and afraid to come out of the closet? Are you a Christian on a mission to save the world? Are you an eldest son with an endless sense of duty? Are you a beer drinker who never gets high on life when off the bottle? Are you a bellydancer masquerading as a department store clerk? Are you the black sheep of your family who never gets invited to family affairs? Are you the heirloom of a fortune that dishonestly tells people that your wealth was earned through hard work? Are you a welfare recipient because hamburger-flipping jobs are below you? Are you tired of life or your partner or your boss or your spouse or your children or that mother of yours' who keeps asking about your plans for marriage? Are you ready for change? It's not easy becoming a man or woman of truth and integrity, but the effort is more than worth it. Concentrate, as if your life depends on it. If you have goals and you are focused on self-improvement, your listening skills must be improved. Switch off your cleverness, so that you can listen with all your might. Open your eyes to the world begging to be noticed. Smell the flowers and put a gentle hand of encouragement on the shoulder or neck of those you love. Two thousand years past, an ancient philosopher named Pliny the Younger said: "The grace of listening is lost if the listener's attention is demanded, not as a favor, but as a right." So who are you? What are you living for? What are you willing to die for? I pray these last few reading minutes forced you to question yourself about how to proceed from this day forward in being a person of achievement. Remember: you only grow old by thinking old. Keep yourself fresh. Look for the opportunities to serve your fellow men. Small acts of kindness do add up to a better world for us all. I leave you with this story. There was a carpenter who for forty years worked honestly and built for himself a reputation. His skill was known in all the nearby towns and villages. One day the carpenter decided that it was time to retire. He told his boss that he would like to leave after his next job. His boss agreed but said to him "Your last house is to be made with great precision. I will give you all the materials necessary to build a quality, comfortable home. The carpenter agreed to do his best, but in truth his heart just wasn't in it. He put together the house hastily, not pounding in nails or measuring dimensions accurately. The house was done quickly and at first appearance looked good to the boss. The carpenter saw the boss count out his wages and then reach into his trousers to pull out the key. "This, my good carpenter, is your house and my final gift to you." When we do our best and live truthfully we can reach magnificent heights. Treat every house you build as you would your very own. Self-Esteem, Shunned Commencement Speakers

Self-Esteem, Shunned Commencement Speakers, and College Trigger Warnings

Self-Esteem, Shunned Commencement Speakers, and College Trigger Warnings
By Carol Josel

Here it is in a nutshell: Self-esteem comes from true accomplishment, or, at the very least, a strong effort to succeed, to attain a goal. It cannot be handed to children by well-meaning parents and educators who put every scribble on the fridge door or bulletin board.

Nevertheless, too many of us continue to ignore that truth, over-indulging our kids, defending the indefensible, and protecting them from failure. We hover, too.

Every kid now gets a trophy, merited or not, while many schools have done away with homework, red pens, and zeroes. Nowadays, we even see multiple valedictorians at graduations--or none at all. God forbid, the slackers out there should feel badly and left out.

Much of this is attributable to the self-esteem movement that got started back in the 1980's in California. The thinking at the time was that by downplaying grades and competition while praising even minimal effort, kids would feel worthwhile and be better behaved.

What we've ended up with instead are countless intolerant, arrogant, needy young people who've come to believe that life is supposed to be fair and that they're the be all and end all. They post the minutiae of their lives online, take countless selfies, expect good grades simply for showing up, cope poorly with failure, and lack adult-ready skills.

And all that me, me thinking is no more apparent than on our college campuses. Says comedian Jerry Seinfeld, "College kids are too politically correct; I hear it all the time. I don't play colleges, but I hear a lot of people tell me, 'Don't go near colleges. They're too P.C.' I'll give you an example: My daughter's 14. My wife said to her, 'Well, you know, in the next couple years, I think you're going to want to be hanging around the city more on the weekends, so you can see boys.' You know what my daughter says? She says, 'That's sexist.' They just want to use these words: 'That's racist;' 'That's prejudice.' They don't know what the _ _ _ _ they're talking about."

Along with all that unbridled political correctness and self-centeredness, many college students nowadays can't handle opposing points of view, so they protest, shun, or cause certain guests to be disinvited as speakers-and with many of their professors right there with them. In fact, according to the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), since 1987, there have been at least 145 instances where speakers have withdrawn their names, had invitations revoked, or been the subjects of protests-with almost 100 of these in the last five years.

Notes the Washington Square News Editorial Board: "The protests follow party lines-with speakers who are perceived to be conservative uninvited almost three times as much as liberal guests." Last year, that included former U.S. secretary of state Condoleezza Rice. Not only did Rutgers University students protest with a sit-in, the faculty council urged the university to disinvite her, calling her a "war criminal." She withdrew her name, so as not to detract from the ceremony itself.

Another who withdrew in 2014 was Robert J. Birgeneau, former chancellor of the University of California, Berkeley. Students at Haverford College liked that he champions undocumented and minority students but disapproved his use of force during a 2011 Occupy movement protest on campus. The upshot: They and some professors penned a letter asking that he apologize and support reparations or be disinvited.

Meanwhile, although Harvard's graduating seniors didn't want former NYC Mayor Bloomberg to speak last year, speak he did. Among his comments: "In the 1950's. the right wing was attempting to repress left-wing ideas. Today, on many campuses, it is liberals trying to repress conservative ideas, even as conservative faculty members are at risk of becoming an endangered species, and that is probably nowhere more true than it is here in the Ivy League."

Underscoring that fact, he noted that "all but 4% of presidential campaign contributions by Ivy League faculty and staff in 2012 went to Obama." Bloomberg himself endorsed the man at the time.

Among 2015's hit list:

  • St. John Fisher College: Former NYC Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Dozens of professors wrote, "A graduation ceremony should be a moment in which we publicly acknowledge and show respect for all members of our diverse student body and their accompanying families. Regretfully, our speaker selection implies that we do not value all members of the Fisher family equally."
  • University of California, L.A.: Former Microsoft technology officer and co-founder of Intellectual Ventures Nathan Myhrvold. Offended, student Ara Shirinian called his company "the world's biggest patent troll" and insisted that, in the future, students be involved in the selection process.
  • LeMoyne College: Cardinal Timothy Dolan. Almost the entire graduating class signed a Change.org petition against him for opposing same-sex marriage and mishandling sex abuse allegations against priests.

And when Texas Governor Greg Abbott was asked to speak this year at the University of North Texas, "Turn Your Back on Bigotry" designed an AbbottFreeUNT Facebook page asking that agreeing students turn their backs on him for the duration. Part of their platform read, "Governor Abbott supports policies that impede the attainment of rights pursued by marginalized communities, including, but not limited to: the LGBT+ population, women, people of color, and lower/working class people, e.g. Abbott's attempts to block access to in-state tuition for undocumented migrants is antithetical to this university's purported commitment to higher education and opportunity."

The upshot: Only a few hundred of the 4,000 graduating seniors showed up, and many of them turned their backs as the governor spoke. Wonder what their parents thought.

As the WSN Editorial Board concluded, "Although the overwhelming majority of students support free speech in theory, those who protest visiting speakers do not reflect this belief. If students are to advocate for free speech, they must uphold it unselectively. Advocates for free speech should not try to eliminate opportunities for unpopular views to be heard, and should, in fact, encourage them. Exposure to dissenting ideas is especially critical to intellectual honesty, and growth in an educational setting."

Unfortunately, the threat to academic freedom and freedom of speech doesn't end with shunned guest speakers. Nowadays, trigger warnings on campuses also seek to protect "fragile" students from any topic that might "trigger" in them an emotional response.

For instance, Oberlin College's now-tabled policy warned faculty to "remove triggering material when it does not contribute directly to the course learning goals." Listed as potential triggers: "Racism, classism, sexism, heterosexism, cissexism, ableism, and other issues of privilege and oppression."

I needed help with:

  • Cissexism: "The appeal to norms that enforce the gender binary and gender essentialism, resulting in the oppression of gender variant, non-binary and trans identities."
  • Ableism: "a set of practices and beliefs that assign inferior value (worth) to people who have developmental, emotional, physical or psychiatric disabilities."

Even such classics as Huck Finn, The Great Gatsby, Mrs. Dalloway, and Shakespeare, too, have been targeted.

Such goings-on triggered this from The Daily Beast's Neil Gillespie: "Abetted by idiot administrators, today's students seem incapable of living in the real world. Every time we seem to have reached peak insanity when it comes to the intellectually constipated and socially stultifying atmosphere on today's college campuses, some new story manages to reveal vast new and untapped reservoirs of ridiculousness. In a world of trigger warnings, microaggressions, and official apologies featuring misgendered pronouns that start a whole new round of accusations, wonders never cease."

And so it goes...

Tim Tebow and the Pro-Life Super Bowl Ad

Tim Tebow and the Pro-Life Super Bowl Ad

Tim Tebow and the Pro-Life Super Bowl Ad
By David Burlison

Tim Tebow's pro-life superbowl ad has become the centerpiece of debate for the pro-life and pro-choice advocates for the present. The Tim Tebow superbowl ad is programed to air during the Colt- Saints 2010 Super Bowl. The Tim Tebow ad was produced and financed by Focus on the Family, the world know Christian and pro-life organization. The ad will feature Tim Tebow of Heisman and University of Florida fame and his mother, with a pro-life message. As a result good or bad, the abortion debate continues on to the point of redundancy and the Super Bowl weekend will not only be filled with flying footballs and carryout pizza, but mingled in between the pom-poms and striped suit referees will be the reminder that the abortion issue is still alive and definitely not dead.

From the discussions and debates on the national talk shows, like Larry King Live, Fox, CNN and all the major networks, it appears that the only ones to have reviewed the ad has been the Super Bowl network, CBS, and the big brass at Focus on the Family. The ad, as understood, is a pro-life message. The ad comments on the decision Tim Tebow's mother made in the late eighties to go forward with Tim Tebow's birth, despite warnings from Ms Tebow's doctors during her pregnancy that she and her fetus son, Tim Tebow, would be subject to life threatening consequences if she continued with the pregnancy.

Obviously, Ms Tebow, was willing to take on a significant risk for herself and her un-born son. And as as a result of her faith to continue with the pregnancy, we have all prospered by enjoying the exciting and inspirational college career of Tim Tebow, one of the best college players in the history of the game. Suffice it to say, and regardless what your position on abortion, Ms Tebow's courage and faith to continue with the pregnancy of her son, Tim Tebow, is worthy of applause.

Abortion is a complicated legal and moral issue. It is hard to be neutral and really address the issue. It may appear that the pro-life supporters are callous and insensitive to a desperate and confused young girl faced with the overwhelming decision to give birth and have to deal with a life long burden of an unwanted child. The burden of the decision is compounded many times over if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest. If you are pro-life and believe that life begins at conception there is really no room to compromise. And the issue of when life begins is really the issue that divides.

Maybe the best way to deal with the issue is to offer compassion on both sides and what makes it so difficult is that there is possibly an unborn human child that can not be ignored in this most difficult decision.

Again, thanks Ms Tebow for giving us your son, Tim.

Tim Tebow's Amazing Journey to the NFL

Tim Tebow's Amazing Journey to the NFL

Tim Tebow's Amazing Journey to the NFL
By Jara Johnson

Tim Tebow has had the type of life that you typically find in a comic book or and superhero movie. Even before he was born, Tebow fought incredible odds as doctors strongly suggested that his mother consider an abortion in order to save her life. At the time, Pamela Tebow was serving as a missionary in the Philippians, and she had contracted an amoeba infection during her pregnancy. However, she opted to keep the baby, and both she and Tebow managed to survive.

Tebow was doubted often as he grew up. And just as often, he proved those doubters wrong. In high school, he switched schools in order to have an opportunity to play the position he loved: quarterback. By his senior year, Tebow was one of the most highly-recruited players in the nation. In the end, he opted to play for Urban Myers and the Florida Gators.

How did the Gator Nation feel about their team choosing an unorthodox, left-handed quarterback who was built more like a linebacker? There were no regrets. Tebow delivered and would go on to be one of the most popular figures in Gator history. It did not hurt that he was bigger and faster than most of the other players on the field. During his freshman year, Tebow played behind talented senior quarterback Chris Leak, but he still had a special role on the team and contributed greatly to the Gator's National Championship. His most memorable moment was the jump pass touchdown during that championship game.

During his years with the Gators, Tim Tebow won enough awards and recognitions to fill several shelves starting with the Heisman Trophy in 2007. Tebow became the first sophomore to in history to win that prestigious award. That season was also his best passing year. According to ESPN He passed for 3,286 yards with a 67 percent completion rate. In January 2009, Tebow led the Gators to a 24-14 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners to win his second National Championship.

Tebow opted to return for his senior year instead of entering the NFL draft. And from the beginning of his season analysts and experts were picking apart every aspect of his game, especially his throwing motion. He did not have the traditional pro quarterback release, and experts debated if he would be successful in the NFL as a quarterback. Tim also played a very physical brand of football. He was not scared to take off from the line of scrimmage and run the ball. His size and speed allowed this style to be successful for him during college, but experts argued that he would not be able to take hits in the NFL from much bigger, stronger, and faster players.

Tim Tebow's career in the NFL and with the Denver Broncos will always be tied to Josh McDaniels. The Denver Broncos experienced a lot of success with head coach Mike Shanahan, the predecessor to McDaniels. He was named head coach in 1995, and during his term, he won back-to-back championships with John Elway as his franchise quarterback. At one point, the Broncos record was 46-10 over a three year period, setting the record for wins in that time span (The Washington Post,). However, Shanahan's effectiveness faltered, and the Broncos went seven years without a single playoff win. He was fired in 2008 after the Broncos did not make the playoffs yet again.

The Broncos were ready to head in a new direction and Josh McDaniels was their guy.
McDaniel's NFL career began as a personal assistant for the New England Patriots in 2001. He was with the Patriots for each of their Super Bowl wins. In 2007, he took charge of the Patriot's offense, a year in which several NFL offensive records would be shattered. As found on Patriot Achieve, With McDaniel at the offensive helm the Patriots set records for, the most touchdowns (75) and points (589) among many other things,. To top that off, they were also the first team ever to win all 16 regular season games. The 2008 season was even more impressive. The Patriots reached an 11-5 record using backup quarterback Matt Cassel, in for an injured Tom Brady. In two seasons, Josh McDaniels had created quite an impressive resume, and it is no surprise that the Broncos hired him to replace Shanahan.

McDaniels was named the head coach of the Denver Broncos on January 11, 2009. He started with a bang, winning his first six games, but then things got tough. McDaniels was criticized for trading Pro Bowl receiver Brandon Marshall along with running back Peyton Hillis. Both went on to have stellar years. Poor drafting and trading left the Broncos with an offense that was above average, but the defense was among the league's worst.

The summer of 2010 was big for both McDaniels and Tim Tebow. Somehow Tebow had impressed McDaniels enough to take a gamble, and on draft night, the Broncos gave up their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round draft picks in order to snag Tebow with the 25th pick in the first round.

Despite all of the controversy, Tebow was instantly accepted by the franchise and the fans. The franchise praised him for his work ethic and intensity, and the fans brought his jerseys by the thousands. In fact for most of the season, Tebow's number 15 was the top-selling jersey, and he finished the season in the number three spot (Business Insider). The Bronco's expected Tebow to come in and work hard, and the fans expected him to come in and provide a spark to the team. Many people compared him to another Bronco great who shared similarities with Tebow's style of play: John Elway.

Tebow won the backup quarterback spot over Brady Quinn, but he did not see much action at first. Occasionally, when the team was in a goal line situation, Tebow's unique talents were put to use. However, the Bronco's abysmal record and a rib injury to starting quarterback Kyle Orton gave Tebow a chance to start. With just three games left in the season, Tebow proved he could lead an NFL team to victory. He also proved he could excite fans who thought they had nothing to look forward to.

The most intriguing trait that Tebow brings to the table is his potential. He is still very much an unpolished quarterback, but no one works as hard to improve their game as he does. During those three starts, Tim Tebow showed flashes of brilliance that point to the great future he can have - with the right coach, leading him in the right system.

Tim Tebow: The Most Interesting Man In The ,,,,,,,

Tim Tebow: The Most Interesting Man In The World

Tim Tebow: The Most Interesting Man In The World
By Kevin Probst

Jonathon Goldsmith plays The Most Interesting Man in the World in a very popular television commercial. He possesses fascinating traits that capture the attention of the world.. This article is about a man who may not be the most interesting man in the world but he is certainly one of the most polarizing figures in American Culture.

Tim Tebow was the miracle baby of his mother, Pam. In 2010, the Tebows coordinated with Focus On The Family to sponsor a Super Bowl commercial to tell their story. When Pam was pregnant with Tim the doctors told her she should abort her baby to avoid life-threatening complications. She refused and now, like him or not, the world has Tim Tebow.

George Weigel asks why Tim Tebow is so controversial in his article for First Things. Tim Tebow is "more polarizing than trash-talking NBA behemoths; more polarizing than foul-mouthed Serena Williams; more polarizing than NFL all-stars who father numerous children by numerous women, all out of wedlock. Why does Tebow, and Tebow alone, arouse such passions? Why is Tebow the one whom "comedians" say they would like to shoot?"

ESPN ran a Sunday morning special in September of 2011 exploring the divisiveness of Tim Tebow, who started the season as the 3rd string quarterback of the Denver Broncos. Urban Meyer, coach of the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner, said he felt cautious when Tebow arrived at the University of Florida. Here is a sensitive, sincere, good looking kid who has exposed his heart to America. Would he set himself up for failure? Would his image come crashing down due to sex or drugs or steroids? Meyer was on a mission to find hypocrisy in Tim Tebow. He came up empty. Tebow was the real deal.

Tim Tebow has become the poster boy of evangelical Christianity. Some love and admire him because he has shown that he has the intestinal fortitude necessary to take a stand for Christ and endure the ridicule that is sure to follow. Others hate him because they interpret his evangelical message as being exclusionary and offensive. No one wants to be told they are wrong or that their names are not written in the Book of Life. Tim Tebow finds himself in the eye of the hurricane because of his biblical beliefs regarding sin. Society is hypersensitive regarding issues such as homosexuality and choosing abortion. Tebow is standing in the crossfire between those people who categorize those issues as sin, deserving of God's judgment, and those who believe such people to be arrogant and judgmental.

The haters are many and varied. Just Google 'I hate Tim Tebow' and browse through the nearly 4,000,000 hits to discover just how vehement this hatred is. One commentator mocked Tebow's Christian testimony and the Bible verses inscribed on his black eye patches. "Hey, look at me! I'm a Christian! I read the Bible! God doesn't care who wins the game, I know, she told me so" he wrote.

Comedian John Oliver spouted "I hate Tim Tebow" in one of his performances. He explained that if he had Bin Laden and Tim Tebow in the same room and he had a gun with two bullets, he would shoot Tebow first. Bill Maher refers to Tebow as a douche bag. Facebook and Twitter are overloaded with Tebow haters. It doesn't take a trained psychologist to understand why they are hating on Tebow.

In January of 2005 the Vikings were playing the Packers at Lambeau Field. Randy Moss caught a touchdown pass and then proceeded to entertain millions of fans by simulating the act of mooning in the end zone. The commentators seemed to react differently. Chris Collinsworth tried to muffle a giggle while Joe Buck expressed his outrage, "That's a disgusting act by Randy Moss and its unfortunate we had it on our air live." In contrast, Tim Tebow takes one knee and prays to his God. Guess which act stirs outrage around the water cooler on Monday morning?

Tebow's habit of taking a knee and placing his fist to his forehead has birthed a cultural phenomena called 'Tebowing'. Visit the Tebowing website to discover how 'Tebowing' has become the recent rage. They are Tebowing in Haiti, in China and at the Vatican. They are doing it in Afghanistan and in Kuwait. Grooms as well as brides are Tebowing before they tie the knot. Small children are Tebowing. Soldiers and airline pilots are Tebowing. A miner in New Zealand Tebows deep under the earth and a mountain climber in Austria Tebows on top of the world.

Some are not so enthused about Tebowing. The administration at Riverhead High School in Long Island suspended four boys for Tebowing in the hallways of the school. One of the suspended was Conner Carroll. When asked on ESPN's Sports Center if his suspension was worth it he replied, "I did this to show tribute to Tim Tebow. He is a winner, he is a leader, he has great faith, you know, he's a perfect guy to follow after...he is not a guy doing steroids or drugs or anything like that. He's an ideal role model. People should look up to him."

The list of athletes with a criminal record is too long to add to this discussion. Recently, a Chicago Bears player was arrested for setting up a drug distribution ring in the city of Chicago. College coaches (from Penn State and Syracuse) have been accused of sexually molesting minors. Why are so many expending so much energy hating on a man who is one of the few remaining, decent role models for American youth?

Doug Giles expressed this conundrum well in an article he wrote for Townhall: "Let me see if I get this straight: A sex worshipping, multi-tattooed thug with three illegit kids from three different women scores a touchdown and then proceeds to simulate a sex act in the end zone - in front of our children and the millions watching by television - and that's okay? Why sure it is. Who are we to judge? Matter of fact, let's give that future inmate a Nike ad and bump his contract up a few mil because he brings spice (and crabs) to the game. Ah... sweet progress."

Why do they hate on Tebow? It's not because he is obnoxious, it's not because he is rude or depraved. It's not because of his football skills or lack thereof. They hate on him because he is not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ and because he truly believes it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes. (Romans 1:16)

Jeffrey Kuhner, in an article for the Washington Times writes: "Christianity is gradually being purged from the public square. Christmas celebrations have become offensive. "Merry Christmas" is now considered to be politically incorrect; the proper greeting is "happy holidays." The Ten Commandments cannot be displayed in courtrooms or classes. Prayer has been banished from public schools. Christians are regularly mocked in movies and TV." Kuhner describes this cultural deconstruction of Christianity in our society as Christophobia. He continues, "Christophobia forms the basis of modern liberalism. Leftist progressives are determined to destroy traditional America and its seminal institutions - the Constitution, capitalism, national sovereignty and the family. This is why they have declared war on Christianity."

If Tim Tebow would leave out the name of Christ he would not be criticized so harshly. There is great power in the name of Christ. True salvation comes to the heart through the name of Jesus Christ. (John 3:18) Christians are baptized in his name, (Acts 8:16-17), they pray in his name (John 14:13-14) and they are granted eternal life in his name. (1 John 5:13) Why do people use the name of Christ in vain but they don't use the name of Buddha or Mohammed or Allah? It's because no man is threatened by any other name than that of Jesus Christ. His name has a mysterious power associated with it and they fear that power. Fear spawns hatred.

Why is Tim Tebow hated? He is hated for the same reason Christ was hated. People run from the truth because it is too painful to face it. They hate what they fear. They don't fear Tim Tebow, they fear the message he bears. His message clearly states that all will be accountable to God for their decisions and their behavior. It was the message of John the Baptist (Matthew 3:2) and they chopped off his head for propagating it. It was the message of Jesus (Matthew 4:17) and they crucified him on the cross for preaching it. It is the message of Tim Tebow and that is why he is being hated on. Jesus Christ predicted it: "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first." (John 15:18) But Christ also promised eternal life for those who stood firm to the end: "All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved." (Mark 13:13)

Stand firm, Tim Tebow. Please don't disappoint us. Christians will take courage from your witness and our youth are in desperate need a godly role model.

Review of Janet Bloom's Book Co-Parenting Hell:

Review of Janet Bloom's Book Co-Parenting Hell: Raising Healthy Kids With a Narcissistic Ex

Review of Janet Bloom's Book Co-Parenting Hell: Raising Healthy Kids With a Narcissistic Ex
By Joseph Langen

This is a book written by a mother of children, now divorced from her husband. The book begins with the American Psychiatric Association's definition of Narcissistic Personality Disorder from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual-Version 5 (DSM-V). The author describes the book a based on her experiences but refers to the American Psychiatric Association and professional writings she cites. The book presents as a combination of memoir and handbook for other parents in her situation. She talks about having achieved peace and emotional freedom. Yet a few paragraphs later she refers to "my ex (the bastard)" Hmmm.

The author describes narcissists and their characteristics. She relates most of them to her experience and observations of her ex-husband's behavior. It was unclear to me the extent to which the narcissistic characteristics to which she refers relate to professional writings or strictly her own experience of her ex-husband.

The author describes narcissistic traits related to the DSM-V criteria related to professional writings and her own experience. She talks about her experiences and observations in a colloquial manner which I found easy to follow and understand.

She discusses early family influences setting the stage for the development of Narcissistic Personality Disorder. She makes it clear that this condition is not a choice people make for themselves. It is a condition which tends to run in families and which may be at least partially genetic.

The book goes on to describe the difficulties of becoming detached from a narcissistic spouse who is not negotiating honestly. The author describes how such people try to manipulate the authorities, the courts and even their ex-spouse's family to their advantage. Trying to negotiate with such a person is often a losing proposition.

Balancing and coordinating the time each spouse has with the children can also be fraught with difficulty and may need the help of lawyers and the courts to keep the arrangements under control. The author presents a long list of possible co-parenting issues in detail and suggests specific approaches to managing each of them.

Also discussed are issues which indicate the advisability of therapy for children caught in the divorce and post-divorce struggles. Therapy is seen as "critical to co-parenting success" among other supports but does not elaborate on how therapy might be helpful to parents.

The author addresses a large variety of issues likely to arise while managing co-parenting with a narcissist. She also provides specific recommendations for managing each of these issues. She addresses complex difficulties involving relatives and how they can be manipulated by narcissistic ex-spouses.

She ends by emphasizing the need for self care. She also stresses taking the time and making the effort to recover from the trauma of being married to a narcissistic spouse or of being the ex-spouse of one, especially when children are involved. Although these issues could all suggest the help of a therapist, the author does not specifically address how a therapist could help with this process. Yet she does discuss an extensive list of actions an individual might pursue in the interest of recovery from this very difficult series of situations.

The author suggests that the best way of managing these difficulties is not to become embroiled in a relationship with a narcissist. I would wholeheartedly agree with this conclusion. Yet narcissists can be very seductive and present a false front for a while. If you find yourself in this situation, this book could provide you with a useful roadmap through the narcissistic jungle.

Hiring a Bike Transport for a Hassle-Free Shifting of Your Bike
By Shalini M

We all move around on our favorite bikes. At times, you need to have your bike transported to a different state or the city. In this case, you cannot just ride your bike for several hours to take it to another city with you. In this case, it is better that you look for a good transport company. Since there are a lot of transport services available, it may not be easy for you to choose the best one. Therefore, we have shared a couple of simple tips that will make this choice easier for you. Read on to find out more

Things to Keep in Mind

The most important thing that you need to consider before shifting your bike is to consider its condition first. This is important if you want to maintain a high level of safety.

Don't forget to carry all of the important documents with you. Apart from this, if you are going to hire the services of a two-wheeler transport to shift your bike, make sure you give them the relevant documents.

Also, you may want to discuss all the charges and expectations before you sign the contract. After all, you don't want to end up filing a dispute at the end of the move. As soon as everything is ready, you can allow the service provider to transport your bike to your destination.

Look for a Reliable Local Service

Since you are a beginner, you may not be familiar with the process of moving a bike to a new place. Since our professional bike transport company has a lot of experience in this department, it is normal for them to do this type of move.

So, what you need to do is look for a reliable transport service provider in your city, especially if you want to get great results. These service providers make sure that you enjoy a hassle-free move.

Ideally, you may want to look for the best provider. While interviewing the service provider, don't forget to ask about the type of packaging they are going to use for your bike. Also, you can ask about how long they will take to deliver your bike.

You can also ask about the type of vehicles they are going to use for this purpose. There should be no communication gap between you and the transport company.

Things to Know and Questions to Ask When Replacing a Windshield
By Shalini M

Seeing the cracked windshield really pains every driver. The question that follows is whether it needs to be replaced or can be repaired. The best thing to do is take the car, if possible, to the professionals; they will inspect and give the right advice.

Types of damage

The windshield is also referred to as "safety glass." This glass is designed to make sure that in case an object strikes, the windshield cracks or breaks into smaller pieces rather than big, dangerous ones.

  • Cracks- a crack may start small, but with time it can grow bigger. A tape can be used to cover the crack so that it does not grow. But this is temporary, it is best to get the glass replaced/repaired.
  • Chips- a chip in a windshield is caused when any impact breaks a certain part of the glass layer. It is usually the seed that leads to a crack later on. Many times, on inspection, the professionals say that it can be repaired. But if deep enough, a replacement is required.

When should a windshield be replaced?

In some cases, it is evident that a windshield requires to be replaced. But when there is a small crack or chip, it can get difficult to judge whether a replacement is required. The instances where a replacement is required are:

  • When there are three or more cracks in the windshield because too many cracks reduce the ability of the windshield to withstand impacts.
  • If there is any damage on the driver's side of the glass because repairs leave marking. And these markings can make the windshield weak, thus best to replace the safety glass.
  • If any crack on the windshield is more than 14 inches.
  • The windshield has two glasses and in between has a plastic lamination. A replacement is required if the inner layer gets discolored.

Things to check with the replacement company

Once it is decided that the windshield requires a replacement, check a few things with the replacement company before going ahead.

Certified and trained technicians

The first thing to check is whether the technician is certified and has the right training to replace and install the windshield. And the certificate is not the company's but individual certification proving their training.

Experience in using the adhesive

The adhesive is the tool used during replacement which makes sure that the windshield stays in place. The adhesive manufacturers always advise that their product be used by the technician who has training in using it. The manufacturers provide classes to train the technicians. Thus, it is another certificate that the client needs to check.

How long till it's safe to drive

Before getting the windshield replaced, ask the technicians how long until the glass sets and it is safe to drive. Thus, that way, one will know when to fit the repairing in their schedule. But make sure that the adhesive is properly cured before driving.

Material of right standard

Apart from checking the technician's skills, make sure that the materials and the new glass meet the right motor vehicle safety standards. It should be of right transparency and should have the property of withstanding impact.

Warranty policy

The warranty is for the quality of the company's work. In case of any leakage of air or water, the client can get the company to correct the mistake within the warranty terms.

In need of an auto glass repairing company that can help with windshield repair or windshield replacement? It is best to choose a company with years of experience in this repair work to ensure quality work. Our auto glass repair company always has the best interest of their client in mind.

Making Money On Amazon: Become an Amazon Affiliate

Making Money On Amazon: Become an Amazon Affiliate
By Katherine M J Mason

In this article I'm going to talk to you about a very different and, potentially, even more promising way to make money on Amazon. I'll explain how Amazon Associates works and look at whether or not it is as good as it sounds.

With this way of making money on Amazon you don't need to see or touch a single product. In fact, you don't even need to have a product. You don't need to do any selling either. Amazon sees to all that for you. It's a method that, with time and effort, could make you even more money than selling something on Amazon - from a lot less work than a conventional product stocking, buying-and selling operation involves.

It's all possible thanks to Amazon's very clever and comprehensive affiliate program that is known in Amazon-speak as Amazon Associates.

Of course, you're probably saying, affiliate programs are nothing new. And you'd be quite right.

But Amazon Associates isn't just any old affiliate program. It's a program that is tried and tested, highly professional, relatively easy to get started in, and on top of all that free to join. Not only that, but it allows you to hitch a ride on the back of the famous, highly- respected brand that is Amazon. That's why if you're new to affiliate schemes, or have tried others before and been disappointed by the results, Amazon Associates could be well worth a closer look.

What is an affiliate scheme?

You probably know what an affiliate program (or scheme) is, but in case you don't I'll briefly cover what they are here. Essentially, an affiliate scheme is an arrangement which allows one Internet marketeer (you in this case) the opportunity to promote the products and services being sold by another and get paid a commission (or referral fee as it is sometimes known) for doing it. It's a very simple idea and it is proven to work.

Amazon's affiliate program is a very advanced and sophisticated yet user-friendly affiliate scheme. When you sign up for Amazon's Associates program you don't need any products of your own. Instead, you introduce or refer potential buyers to Amazon's huge and ready-made range of products. More about exactly how that works shortly. If they then buy something, Amazon pays you a commission on the sale.

Put in very simple terms what is happening is that Amazon are paying you for finding and sending them potential customers. It's basically a classic Pay Per Action or PPA arrangement.

You can be an affiliate for all kinds of companies of course. But one of the advantages of being an Amazon affiliate is that people already know and trust the Amazon brand. So it is (or should be) much more likely that those you refer will buy - and buy more - than other unknown or run-of-the-mill affiliate schemes.

How does Amazon work with affiliates?

Amazon call their affiliate scheme Amazon Associates. Actually, that is a bit misleading. When you join you're not really an associate of Amazon. You're an affiliate pure and simple. The Amazon affiliates program is one of the oldest on the Internet. In fact, Amazon pioneered this method of marketing when the Internet was still in its infancy. It works like this:

1. You set up a website and generate traffic for it.

2. You sign up for the Amazon Associates program.

Once approved by Amazon you have access to a range of tools and techniques which allow you to refer visitors to your site to any or all of Amazon's portfolio of products.

3. You choose the products you want to promote. You then create affiliate links on your site which point to Amazon. If a visitor to your site clicks on one of the approved affiliate links and goes to Amazon and buys something within a certain time period you get a commission on the selling price.

The pros and cons of Amazon Associates

* Pro. You don't need products or services to sell. You don't need to spend time developing, creating or manufacturing them.

* Pro. You don't need to store, handle or ship products. Amazon does that for you.

* Pro. You don't need to handle payments. Amazon does that for you too.

* Pro. You don't need to provide customer back- up/support. The product supplier does that for you.

Now, I said affiliate schemes are basically simple. And essentially they are. But there are one or two drawbacks you need to know about before you start.

* Con. There can be stiff competition. Because affiliate schemes are simple to get into there can be competition from other people doing much the same thing as you. Lots of people are already Amazon affiliates, so there's already a fair bit of competition to tackle.

* Con. There's no product exclusivity. Anyone else can sell the same products and services as you. And you can't control the price... at least not with Amazon.

You'll need to choose a good niche and work hard to persuade customers to buy through you - more about all this later.

* Con. It's not an entirely hands-off business - despite the claims made by some people promoting affiliate schemes. You'll still need a website (in most cases). You'll need to spend time and money generating traffic for it. That can be tricky when you're new to the whole thing.

* Con. Affiliate program commissions can be quite small. A matter of pence per sale in some cases. You need to generate a good volume of referrals to earn a good income. (Amazon promise up to 10% but frankly you'd be safer to bank on 5%.)

Running Your Own Amazon Business From Home

Running Your Own Amazon Business From Home
By Elizabeth W Conley

Long before the internet, retail was well established as one of the most competitive industries to enter. The internet has given new entrepreneurs the ability to launch their business with more ease, but it can still be difficult to find a foothold.

Even though there are tens of thousands of retail websites online, a few major brands continue to dominate, much like traditional high street retail. By some distance, Amazon is the largest online retailer of all.

The simple truth is that very few companies will ever be able to compete with Amazon. So why bother? The best thing that you can do if you want to start an online retail business from home is to get involved with the Amazon brand and turn it to your advantage.

Read on to learn the basics of getting up and running with your own Amazon business. You'll find out that by treating Amazon as an ally, not a rival, you too can start earning a great living from home.

Why Start An Amazon Business?

Understanding how you should sell products in the retail environment means understanding what customers look for when they buy them.

Of course, every customer looks for the highest quality products at the lowest possible prices. If you can offer something truly innovative, or enter an existing sector with lower prices, you can certainly attract a large amount of interest in your business.

But this interest is only worthwhile if it turns into revenue. Unfortunately, this means a big leap of confidence for your visitors.

Online security is better than ever, but retail trust is about far more than stolen credit cards. In fact, it can take years for potential customers to learn that you offer good products, you package them well, you dispatch them on time and you follow up with great customer service.

Amazon is the biggest online retailer because it is a brand that customers trust. If you're selling on Amazon, they'll trust you too.

How Does Selling On Amazon Work?

First, you need to sign up for a seller account with Amazon. There are two types of account available.

The standard Basic Seller Account is free, and offered to those retailers that sell less than 35 items a month. Products can be listed in up to 20 different categories, and you will simply pay a fee for each product sold. A significant limitation, though, is that you can only sell products that are already for sale on Amazon.

As your business grows, you may want to upgrade to a Pro Seller Account. This type of account is charged at £25 per month, but includes the ability to create new products, and sell them across up to 25 different categories.

For more information on the types of account available, visit amazon.co.uk/services

What Can You Sell On Amazon?

As with any retail business, the first step in successful Amazon selling is deciding on your products. Amazon now has categories for just about anything. Generally, you have three types of products that you can sell on Amazon - which one is right for you?

  • Products That You Make - If you have a great product idea, or even just a talent for creating new things, your products could fill a niche on Amazon. With little or no competition, these kinds of products are potentially lucrative - but it's incredibly difficult to be original!
  • Products From Wholesalers - The traditional retail business model, you could source products from wholesalers or manufacturers and sell them with a mark-up on Amazon. But beware - having stock shipped to your home address usually means buying high volumes of stock in advance! If you plan to use this method, consider drop shipping, where stock is dispatched directly from the wholesaler.
  • Used Goods - From second-hand books to DVDs, many sellers earn a living from reselling used goods. When a customer searches Amazon for a product, they will see your more affordable used version.

The best kind of product for you will depend on your talents, your goals, and the kind of products that you have access too. It's great advice to simply make a choice - spend less time considering your first products and more time working on promoting your Amazon business.

One Amazon seller, Tedric P, did exactly this. He started out by selling video games and consoles that he would buy from high street retailers that were shutting down their stores. Now, his products cover numerous categories and he is earning 30% more than he was in his full-time job!

Choose Your Preferred Order Fulfilment Method

When you have selected your products, it is time to think about how you will get these products to your customers. Never rush head-first into selling without getting a clear idea of how the entire process will work.

When you start selling on Amazon, you have a range of options for fulfilment. Each has its own advantages and your choice will depend on the kind of products you are selling.

First, you can keep your business in-house and send out products yourself. This adds to your own workload, but in the early days of your work-from-home business is usually the best method. Another great advantage of keeping distribution in-house is that you can retain control of your orders, reduce your costs, and even include promotional materials with your packages.

Alternatively, you could partner with Amazon to have them dispatch orders on your behalf. Fulfilment By Amazon, or FBA, is a service provided by the company that is designed to reduce your workload and improve the experience of customers. If you sign up for FBA, you will be asked to send your inventory of stock to Amazon, who will store it for you. Then, when an order is placed, Amazon take care of sending your products - customers can even combine your products with the rest of their Amazon order, or use services such as Amazon Prime for fast shipping.

Finally, you may be able to reach an agreement with your wholesaler or manufacturer if you have one. Using a process called drop shipping, you can concentrate your attention on promoting products and delivering great customer service. All you need to do is notify the wholesaler or manufacturer when an order has been placed, and they will take care of sending it on your behalf. A drop shipping agreement is also a great way to secure arrangements with wholesalers without buying large quantities of stock in advance.

How To Make Your Amazon Business A Success

Starting your Amazon retail business is easy. Making it successful is not! As with any retail venture, promotion is everything. Amazon includes a number of features to help you promote your products, but there is a lot that you will need to do for yourself. Here are three tips to get you started:

1. Consider How You Write Product Listings

A product description is a difficult thing to write. It must convey useful information while persuading, enticing and attracting your potential customers. As you write, ask yourself what your customers would want to know, and how the product can help them. Does it make them look great? Does it save them time? Write benefits-driven product listings that persuade customers to take action.

2. Encourage Activity Around Your Listings

Take a look at any product available on Amazon and you will see product ratings and reviews. These are vital assets for your work-from-home business.

Ideally, your products will be so good, and your service so amazing, that customers will naturally flock to Amazon to leave a message. But don't rely on that - always be proactive.

You could email your existing customers to ask for their reviews. You could offer freebies to established bloggers within your sector to encourage them to link to your product and review it. You could even get your friends and family to post reviews themselves. Every review lends credibility to your listing but, more importantly, can lead you to the holy grail of Amazon - The Buy Box.

3. Get In The Buy Box

The real results from Amazon selling come from getting yourself into the Buy Box. This is a complex, almost impossible task, but one that you should always strive for.

The Amazon Buy Box is the big 'Add To Cart' button that appears on the right hand side of every product listing. For the average user, it is the only place that they will click when they decide that they are ready to buy. If you sell a product that Amazon themselves offer, they will always remain in the Buy Box. But if you don't, you should work hard to get yourself there.

Amazon uses a complex algorithm to decide which companies are in the Buy Box, and the details of this have never been revealed. Essentially, there is only one trick - to be the best retailer possible.

Give great service. Send shipments instantly. Use Fulfilment By Amazon so that Amazon can be confident that products will be dispatched correctly. Reduce your prices and be the most competitive seller on the site. By doing all of these things, there is a chance that you could find yourself in this lucrative and in-demand position.

The Secret Of Online Retail With Amazon

All too often, people venture online to find out big secrets about their chosen work-at-home profession. The reality is, though, that there is only one thing that you need to do to create a successful Amazon retail business: do everything that you would do if you opened a high street store.

I opened this article by saying that high street retail was competitive. The internet is exactly the same, if not more competitive. So be discerning with your products, be proactive with your promotion and be unrivalled in your sector. If you can do all of those things, a successful Amazon business is just a matter of time.
